7TH JANUARY 2011 - BAND OF HOLY JOY + BITTER SPRINGS + ANDREW CLARKE @ THE BULL & GATE

I'm really excited about this gig.
Stuntfox has been invited to take part in the 17th birthday celebrations of legendary indie imprint Fierce Panda.
A week long festival of fun entitled Pandamonium!
In the late eighties / early nineties I heard tell of an intense East London folk collective fronted by a wild eyed Geordie poet named Johnny Brown, called The Band Of Holy Joy. The radio played, I listened, I loved.
Time passed.
Amid legal wranglings and musical differences the band continued to resurface sporadically.
They've never played the fame game and yet have released numerous albums, plays, podcasts, gigged in the former U.S.S.R. , New York, Europe and garnered World-wide critical acclaim across three decades.
Johnny has hosted his own radio show on the fabulous Resonance FM for the past three years giving numerous strange and beautiful new artists a stage whilst keeping us abreast of his own takes on Joy.
This gig celebrates the release of the new Band Of Holy Joy single "Oh what A Thing The Heart Of Man" and unites them with a bill of friends, old and new, in the shape of veteran Teddington agitpoppers The Bitter Springs and twisted singer/ shantywriter Andrew Clarke.
Like I said, I'm excited.
